Privacy Policy

    Last Updated: September 20, 2026

SoloSnap is designed to respect your privacy.

The SoloSnap Mac app handles screenshots, recordings, media, archives, and other files locally on your Mac. It does not automatically collect, inspect, upload, or remotely process those files.

The Mac app does not require an account and does not use advertising trackers. Your files, file names, folder paths, and app activity are not sent to SoloSnap or a third party through the app.

Optional website and support services are separate. When you use one of those services, SoloSnap receives only the information and files you deliberately provide through that service. Their practices are described below and do not change how the Mac app handles files locally.

For purposes of this Privacy Policy, "SoloSnap," "we," "us," and "our" refer to the provider of the SoloSnap app and related support services.

    1. Data Collection by the SoloSnap App

The SoloSnap app does not automatically collect personal information, analytics, usage activity, device or advertising identifiers, location, payment information, or the contents and identifying details of files handled by the app.

Information you deliberately submit through an optional website or support service is covered by the separate sections below, not by the Mac app's local processing.

    2. Local Processing

Capture, recording, conversion, archive, and file-management features run on your Mac. The app does not send the content it handles to a remote server for processing.

You choose where locally created or processed files are saved and whether to move, share, or delete them.

    3. Internet Access

SoloSnap does not connect to the internet for normal app functionality.

The app does not use remote servers to process your files or automatically send app content, settings, or usage information over the internet.

Visiting the SoloSnap website, downloading an update, or using an optional website or support service is separate from the Mac app's local operation and may involve hosting, email, storage, or other providers.

Those external services may process information according to their own privacy practices.

    4. Files Handled by the Mac App

    Your files belong to you.

Files created, opened, converted, recorded, or otherwise handled by the Mac app remain on your Mac unless you choose to move, share, upload, transmit, or delete them yourself.

SoloSnap does not inspect, access, upload, transmit, or remotely process their contents through the Mac app. A file you deliberately submit through a website or support service is handled under that service's disclosures below.

    5. Support Page and Support Submissions

SoloSnap may receive information that you voluntarily provide through the SoloSnap support page or another support channel.

This may include your name, contact details, issue description, messages, and any files or diagnostic materials you choose to include. Nothing is taken automatically from your Mac.

Submitted information and files may be accessed and stored as needed to review, respond to, document, secure, and resolve your request, maintain support records, and meet legal obligations. They are not used for advertising or marketing.

Please do not submit sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for your support request.

    6. SecureDrop and Support Live Chat

SecureDrop is a temporary, approval-based support file-transfer service tied to an existing support ticket or vulnerability report. When you request or use it, SoloSnap receives the ticket or report number, matching email address, optional purpose, access and verification records, and files you deliberately upload. Accepted files are attached to the corresponding support ticket or vulnerability report and are handled as private support materials.

SecureDrop links, codes, and upload windows may expire or be revoked. Closing access prevents further use but does not automatically delete files already attached to a support record.

Support Live Chat is a verified conversation with SoloSnap Support and is separate from SoloSnap Relay. It receives the name, email address, topic, verification and session information, queue and activity state, messages, deliberate attachments, and transcript choice needed to provide the conversation. A message submitted while support is offline becomes a support ticket rather than entering the live waiting line. A requested transcript is sent to the verified email address.

    7. SoloSnap Relay

SoloSnap Relay is a separate, optional account-based encrypted messaging web tool for conversations with other Relay users. It is not a SoloSnap support channel, and its account is separate from the account-free SoloSnap Mac app. Relay stores the account, profile, email-verification and two-factor authentication status, session, contact and conversation membership, and safety-report information needed to provide the service. Verification and service-notice emails do not include Relay message content.

Message text and deliberately shared photos, media, and voice clips are encrypted before storage, so SoloSnap normally stores encrypted content rather than readable conversations. Messages and shared media expire after 24 hours.

Account and profile information, and security or report records reasonably needed for safety, abuse prevention, or legal obligations, may remain until account deletion or as otherwise necessary. SoloSnap administrators do not access private conversations in ordinary operation. If a participant submits a safety report, information or content voluntarily included with that report may be reviewed to investigate and respond.

    8. Third-Party Service Providers

SoloSnap does not sell personal information.

SoloSnap does not use advertising trackers, marketing trackers, or data brokers.

Information and files you deliberately submit may be processed by providers only where needed to host or operate the service, provide requested support, protect SoloSnap, comply with legal obligations, or respond to your request.

SoloSnap does not authorize service providers to use support materials for their own advertising or marketing purposes.

Service providers may also process encrypted Relay data, account information, verification emails, and operational records only as needed to host and operate Relay.

    9. Permissions

SoloSnap may request macOS permissions depending on the features you use.

    These permissions may include:

    • Screen recording permission
    • Microphone permission
    • Camera permission
    • File and folder access permission
    • Accessibility permission, if required for specific app behavior

These permissions are controlled by macOS. Granting a permission allows SoloSnap to perform the requested local feature on your Mac. Granting a permission does not mean SoloSnap sends your data anywhere.

You can review or change permissions at any time in macOS System Settings.

    10. App Settings

SoloSnap may store app preferences locally on your Mac.

These preferences may include settings such as capture options, save location choices, interface preferences, recording options, or other local app configuration values.

These settings are stored locally and are not sent to SoloSnap or to any third party by the SoloSnap app.

    11. Crash Reports and Diagnostics

SoloSnap does not collect crash reports directly through the app.

macOS or Apple may separately collect crash reports or diagnostic information depending on your device settings, Apple account preferences, and Apple's own privacy practices. Any such collection is handled by Apple, not SoloSnap.

If you deliberately send crash details or diagnostic materials through a support channel, SoloSnap may store and use them for support and troubleshooting purposes.

    12. Children's Privacy

SoloSnap does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the SoloSnap app.

Because the SoloSnap app does not automatically collect personal information, SoloSnap does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 or from any other age group through the app.

If a child, parent, or guardian submits information through the support page, SoloSnap may receive the information provided in that support request. If you believe a child has provided personal information through a support channel and you want it removed, please contact SoloSnap support.

    13. Security

SoloSnap's app privacy approach is simple: the app does not automatically collect or transmit your data.

Because SoloSnap processes files locally, you are responsible for managing the security of files saved on your Mac. This includes choosing secure storage locations, controlling access to your device, and deciding when or whether to share files with others.

SoloSnap takes reasonable steps to protect information and files deliberately submitted through its website and support services. However, no online service, storage system, or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

    14. Retention of Submitted Information

SoloSnap may retain information and files you deliberately submit for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the requested service, respond to or document your request, protect SoloSnap and its users, and comply with legal obligations.

SoloSnap may delete support materials when they are no longer needed for these purposes.

You may contact SoloSnap support to ask questions about information you voluntarily submitted or to request deletion of support materials associated with your request. SoloSnap will review and respond to such requests as required by applicable law and subject to legitimate recordkeeping, security, legal, or operational needs.

    15. Your Choices

    You remain in control of:

    • Whether to grant macOS permissions
    • Where to save and how to manage files on your Mac
    • Whether to contact SoloSnap support
    • What information or files to submit through a support service
    • Whether to use SecureDrop, Support Live Chat, or create a separate SoloSnap Relay account

Because the SoloSnap app does not automatically collect your personal information, there is no SoloSnap account created by the app and no app-collected personal data stored on SoloSnap servers. A SoloSnap Relay account is separate and is created only if you choose to sign up for Relay.

If you voluntarily submit information through a support channel, you may contact SoloSnap support with questions or requests about that information.

    16. Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have privacy rights regarding personal information you voluntarily submit through a support channel. These rights may include the right to request access, correction, deletion, or information about how your personal information is used.

SoloSnap does not sell personal information.

SoloSnap does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

SoloSnap does not use sensitive personal information for purposes that would require a right to limit use under California privacy law.

Because the SoloSnap app does not automatically collect personal information, most privacy requests will relate only to information you voluntarily submitted through a support channel or optional website service, or to a Relay account you chose to create.

SoloSnap may need to verify your request before responding. SoloSnap will respond to privacy requests as required by applicable law. Privacy requests may be made using the contact option at the end of this policy.

    17. External Links

SoloSnap may reference a website, support page, documentation page, download page, or other external resource.

When you leave the SoloSnap app and use a website, browser, support portal, hosting provider, platform, or other external service, that service may have its own privacy practices. SoloSnap is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites, browsers, platforms, hosts, or services.

    18. Support Records and Support Access

SoloSnap has several ways to reach us: the contact form, the Vulnerability Disclosure Program, support tickets, SecureDrop, and Support Live Chat. So that a conversation you started in one place can be recognised in another, we keep one internal support record per person and match it using the email address you gave us.

That internal record holds an internal reference we generate ourselves, the email address you contacted us from, the name you supplied if you supplied one, and whether your support access is currently active or restricted. The internal reference is not derived from your name or your email address, is used only by SoloSnap administrators, and is never shown to you or included in the emails we send you.

If support access is temporarily suspended or permanently restricted, we record when that happened, when a suspension ends, and the reason an administrator supplied if one was supplied. We email you about the restriction. Restrictions are applied to the support record itself, so they are not affected by changing browser, device, or network.

Support records are retained so that we can recognise returning contacts and prevent repeat abuse. If you would like your support records removed, contact us through the support page and we will take care of it, other than anything we need to keep to prevent repeat abuse.

    19. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time.

If the Privacy Policy changes, the updated version will be posted with a new "Last Updated" date. Continued use of SoloSnap after an updated Privacy Policy is posted means you accept the updated Privacy Policy.
