Terms of Use

    Effective Date: May 12, 2026 · Last Updated: September 20, 2026

    These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of SoloSnap, including the SoloSnap macOS application, related features, updates, downloads, documentation, support services, web tools, and related website pages operated for SoloSnap.

    By downloading, installing, accessing, or using SoloSnap, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not download, install, access, or use SoloSnap.

    1. Who We Are

    SoloSnap is a free macOS screenshot, screen recording, media conversion, archiving, and utility application created and maintained as an independent software project.

    For purposes of these Terms, "SoloSnap," "we," "our," or "us" refers to the SoloSnap software project and its individual developer.

    For all questions about SoloSnap, reach the team through our support page:

    2. Eligibility

    You may use SoloSnap only if you are legally able to enter into a binding agreement. By using SoloSnap, you represent that you have the legal capacity and authority to accept these Terms.

    If you use SoloSnap on behalf of a company, organization, school, or other entity, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms on behalf of that entity. In that case, "you" and "your" refer to both you and that entity.

    3. Permission to Use SoloSnap

    SoloSnap is provided to you free of charge. Subject to your compliance with these Terms, you may download, install, and use SoloSnap on macOS devices that you own or control for personal, professional, educational, creative, or internal business purposes.

    Your permission to use SoloSnap is personal to you and is not transferable. Using SoloSnap does not give you ownership of SoloSnap or its related materials. Ownership is described in Section 16.

    4. Permitted Use

    You may use SoloSnap for lawful personal, professional, educational, creative, or internal business purposes, including:

    • Taking screenshots;
    • Recording your screen;
    • Recording application audio where supported;
    • Recording microphone input where enabled;
    • Using camera recording features;
    • Converting supported media formats;
    • Creating, opening, extracting, or managing supported archives;
    • Managing media files created, imported, or selected by you; and
    • Using SecureDrop, SoloSnap Relay, Support Live Chat, and other website features as provided.

    You are responsible for how you use SoloSnap and for ensuring that your use complies with all applicable laws, workplace policies, school policies, platform rules, service terms, and third-party rights.

    5. Restrictions

    You agree not to:

    • Copy, modify, redistribute, sell, rent, or lease SoloSnap, or commercially exploit it except as expressly permitted by these Terms;
    • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of SoloSnap, except to the extent such restriction is prohibited by applicable law;
    • Use SoloSnap to violate privacy, intellectual property, publicity, confidentiality, contractual, or other rights of any person or entity;
    • Use SoloSnap to record, capture, store, distribute, or disclose content where you do not have the legal right or required permission to do so;
    • Use SoloSnap for unlawful surveillance, harassment, stalking, fraud, abuse, or unauthorized monitoring;
    • Remove, alter, or obscure any copyright, trademark, attribution, or proprietary notices;
    • Interfere with SoloSnap's normal operation or attempt to bypass technical protections, security measures, or usage limitations;
    • Use SoloSnap to bypass digital rights management, access controls, or technical protection measures;
    • Use SoloSnap in violation of applicable export control, sanctions, or anti-corruption laws; or
    • Encourage, assist, or enable any other person to do any of the above.

    7. Your Content

    "Your Content" means screenshots, recordings, videos, audio files, archives, converted files, images, documents, messages, profile information, voice clips, or other content that you create, import, process, send, upload, or manage using SoloSnap.

    You retain ownership of Your Content. These Terms do not give us ownership of Your Content.

    You are solely responsible for Your Content, including its legality, accuracy, permissions, storage, backup, sharing, publication, retention, deletion, and use.

    We are not responsible for lost, deleted, corrupted, overwritten, misdirected, incomplete, inaccessible, or improperly saved files, except to the extent liability cannot be excluded under applicable law.

    8. Local Processing and File Responsibility

    SoloSnap is designed primarily as a local macOS application. Many operations may occur on your device, including recording, screenshot capture, saving, conversion, archiving, extraction, file management, and related processing.

    You are responsible for maintaining adequate storage, backups, file permissions, save locations, device security, operating system settings, and access controls.

    You should verify important recordings, screenshots, archives, extracted files, converted files, and saved outputs before deleting originals or relying on the output.

    SoloSnap does not guarantee that every recording, capture, conversion, archive, extraction, export, import, or save operation will complete successfully in every environment.

    9. Third-Party Tools, Formats, and Services

    SoloSnap may interact with or rely on third-party technologies, operating system features, file formats, virtual audio devices, system permissions, frameworks, libraries, or services.

    Examples may include macOS system frameworks, system privacy permissions, audio routing tools, media formats, archive formats, codecs, websites, cloud services, or optional third-party components.

    Third-party tools, services, devices, websites, formats, and components are controlled by their respective owners. We are not responsible for their availability, behavior, updates, compatibility, security, legality, or support.

    Your use of third-party tools, services, or components may be subject to their own separate terms or privacy policies.

    10. macOS Permissions

    SoloSnap may require macOS permissions to perform certain functions, including screen recording, microphone access, camera access, file access, accessibility access, notifications, automation permissions, or other system permissions.

    Some features may not work unless the required permissions are granted in macOS System Settings.

    You are responsible for managing these permissions. SoloSnap is not responsible for limitations caused by denied permissions, changed system settings, operating system updates, device restrictions, security software, enterprise management tools, parental controls, or third-party utilities.

    11. Updates and Changes to SoloSnap

    We may update, modify, improve, remove, rename, redesign, suspend, or discontinue features of SoloSnap at any time.

    Updates may include bug fixes, security improvements, compatibility changes, feature changes, user interface changes, format support changes, or performance improvements.

    We are not obligated to provide any particular feature, update, support period, compatibility level, or continued availability unless we separately agree in writing or applicable law requires otherwise.

    12. Beta, Experimental, or Preview Features

    SoloSnap may include beta, preview, experimental, early access, or pre-release features.

    These features may be incomplete, unstable, inaccurate, changed, removed, or unavailable at any time. You should not rely on beta or experimental features for critical work without maintaining backups and alternative workflows.

    Beta, preview, experimental, early access, and pre-release features are provided for evaluation and testing and may be subject to additional terms.

    13. Free Software

    SoloSnap is currently offered free of charge.

    We do not currently charge fees for downloading or using SoloSnap. We may choose to stop offering SoloSnap, change how it is distributed, or offer optional paid features, paid versions, donations, or other paid products in the future.

    If any paid option is offered in the future, the applicable pricing, payment terms, refund terms, and platform rules will be presented before purchase. Nothing in these Terms requires you to purchase anything unless you choose to do so.

    14. Extensions, Add-Ons, and Optional Features

    SoloSnap may offer extensions, add-ons, optional components, or additional feature packs.

    Extensions and optional features may be subject to separate terms, technical limitations, compatibility requirements, pricing, update schedules, or support policies.

    We may limit, disable, remove, or change extensions or optional features for security, compatibility, legal, performance, operational, or product reasons.

    15. Acceptable Use

    You agree to use SoloSnap responsibly and lawfully.

    You may not use SoloSnap to:

    • Capture private information without authorization;
    • Record people or communications where consent is legally required and has not been obtained;
    • Infringe copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, publicity rights, privacy rights, or other rights;
    • Distribute confidential, private, sensitive, or regulated content without permission;
    • Create deceptive, harmful, abusive, illegal, fraudulent, or misleading content;
    • Bypass digital rights management, access controls, or technical protection measures;
    • Violate workplace, school, platform, service, or account rules;
    • Interfere with another person's privacy, security, property, or legal rights; or
    • Upload malware, prohibited executable files, or content intended to disrupt or compromise SoloSnap or another person;
    • Violate any applicable law or regulation.

    16. Intellectual Property and Ownership

    SoloSnap — including the SoloSnap app, its source code, object code, design, user interface, logo, name, branding, text, graphics, documentation, website content, protected expressive elements, structure, organization, workflows, and related materials — is owned by SoloSnap or its creator, except for any third-party materials that are separately identified.

    SoloSnap and its related materials are protected by United States and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Your use of SoloSnap grants you permission to use the app as provided; it does not transfer ownership of any of the materials listed above or any related intellectual property rights to you.

    You may not copy, reproduce, modify, redistribute, sell, resell, sublicense, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, misuse, extract, republish, or create derivative works from SoloSnap or its related materials, and you may not use the SoloSnap name, logo, branding, app design, source code, object code, user interface, website content, documentation, or related materials for your own product, service, website, marketing, distribution, or other commercial or public use, unless you have written permission from SoloSnap or its creator, or unless applicable law allows it.

    SoloSnap may include, use, or reference third-party tools, frameworks, system features, libraries, services, or other materials. Those remain the property of their respective owners and may be subject to their own terms, licenses, or notices. Nothing in these Terms is intended to claim ownership over third-party materials, open-source components, Apple system features, macOS functionality, public standards, general ideas, procedures, processes, systems, methods of operation, concepts, or functionality that are not protectable by copyright or that belong to others.

    All rights not expressly granted in these Terms are reserved by SoloSnap and its creator.

    17. Feedback

    If you submit feedback, suggestions, bug reports, ideas, feature requests, or other comments about SoloSnap, you give us permission to use, reproduce, modify, distribute, display, perform, commercialize, and otherwise make use of that feedback for any purpose, on a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and transferable basis, without restriction or compensation to you.

    We are not obligated to implement, credit, pay for, or keep confidential any feedback you provide unless we separately agree in writing.

    18. Vulnerability Disclosure Program

    SoloSnap is an independent software project created and maintained by an individual developer, as described in Section 1. We welcome responsible reports about security vulnerabilities affecting SoloSnap or this website.

    To submit a vulnerability report, please use our official Vulnerability Disclosure Program form. Reports shared through other channels — such as the general contact form, email, or other website channels — may not reach the right place and could be missed, so we kindly ask that you use the dedicated form whenever possible.

    We do not offer financial compensation, bounties, or rewards of any kind for vulnerability reports. Submitting a report does not entitle you to any payment or other consideration whatsoever.

    No one will be granted access to any SoloSnap source code, object code, or internal systems at any time or for any reason, including in connection with a vulnerability report.

    19. Support

    SoloSnap is free software provided by an individual developer. Support may be limited.

    We may provide support through our support page, documentation, release notes, or other channels, but support availability, response times, updates, bug fixes, compatibility updates, and continued maintenance are not guaranteed.

    We may decline support requests that involve unsupported systems, modified copies of SoloSnap, third-party conflicts, unlawful use, abusive conduct, or requests outside the intended scope of the app.

    SecureDrop. SecureDrop is a temporary, approval-based support file-transfer service tied to an existing support ticket or vulnerability report. Access requires the matching ticket or report details and an approved link or code. Access may expire or be revoked and is not permanent file storage. Expiration or revocation stops further access but does not delete files already submitted to the related support record. You may upload only lawful files that you have the right to share.

    Support Live Chat. Support Live Chat is a verified conversation with SoloSnap Support and is separate from SoloSnap Relay. Email verification is required before entry. Availability and response times are not guaranteed, and a message submitted while support is offline becomes a support ticket rather than entering the live waiting line. You are responsible for messages and attachments you submit. If you request a transcript through the choices offered when a chat ends, it is sent to your verified email address.

    Section 32 explains the conduct rules that apply across SoloSnap support channels. The Privacy Policy explains how information submitted through SecureDrop and Support Live Chat is handled.

    20. SoloSnap Relay

    SoloSnap Relay is a separate, optional account-based encrypted messaging web tool for conversations with other Relay users. It is not a SoloSnap support channel, and its account is separate from the account-free SoloSnap Mac app. You must provide accurate account information, verify your email address, protect your password and recovery codes, and use the required two-factor authentication.

    You are responsible for your profile, messages, group activity, photos, voice clips, and other content shared through Relay. Messages and shared media expire after 24 hours and must not be treated as permanent storage or your only copy of important content.

    You may not use Relay for abuse, impersonation, unlawful content, unauthorized access, or attempts to defeat its safety or security measures. We may restrict accounts or content when reasonably needed to enforce these Terms, protect users, or respond to reports.

    21. Privacy

    Your use of SoloSnap may also be governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how information is collected, used, stored, disclosed, and protected.

    You should review the SoloSnap Privacy Policy before using SoloSnap.

    If there is a conflict between these Terms and the Privacy Policy regarding personal information, the Privacy Policy controls with respect to that personal information.

    22. Disclaimers

    SoloSnap is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

    To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, reliability, availability, performance, compatibility, and error-free operation.

    We do not guarantee that SoloSnap will:

    • Meet your specific requirements;
    • Operate without interruption;
    • Be free from bugs, defects, crashes, vulnerabilities, or errors;
    • Capture, record, convert, archive, extract, import, export, or save every file successfully;
    • Remain compatible with every macOS version, device, permission setting, third-party app, virtual audio device, codec, file format, storage location, or workflow;
    • Preserve or recover any data, file, recording, screenshot, archive, or converted output; or
    • Prevent data loss, file corruption, user error, hardware failure, software conflict, security incident, or third-party interference.

    You use SoloSnap at your own risk.

    Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above disclaimers may not apply to you.

    23. Limitation of Liability

    To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SoloSnap, its individual developer, contributors, service providers, and representatives will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, punitive, or enhanced damages, including loss of profits, revenue, data, files, recordings, screenshots, business opportunities, goodwill, reputation, productivity, or business interruption, whether based on warranty, contract, tort, statute, strict liability, negligence, or any other legal theory, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

    To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the total liability of SoloSnap, its individual developer, contributors, service providers, and representatives for any claim arising out of or relating to SoloSnap or these Terms will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100).

    Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, fraud, or statutory rights that cannot be waived.

    Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of these limitations may not apply to you.

    24. Indemnification

    To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless SoloSnap, its individual developer, contributors, service providers, and representatives from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of or related to:

    • Your use or misuse of SoloSnap;
    • Your Content;
    • Your violation of these Terms;
    • Your violation of any law, regulation, contract, policy, or third-party right;
    • Your recording, capture, storage, sharing, publication, conversion, extraction, archiving, or distribution of content;
    • Your use of third-party tools, services, devices, formats, or workflows with SoloSnap; or
    • Your failure to obtain required permissions, consents, or rights.

    We reserve the right to control the defense of any matter subject to indemnification by you, in which case you agree to cooperate with us.

    25. Export Compliance and Sanctions

    You may not use, export, re-export, import, sell, release, or transfer SoloSnap except as authorized by applicable law.

    You represent and warrant that:

    • You are not located in a country or region subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country;
    • You are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties; and
    • You will not use SoloSnap for any purpose prohibited by applicable export control or sanctions laws.

    26. Governing Law and Venue

    These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Alabama, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

    You agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or SoloSnap will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Mobile County, Alabama, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

    Nothing in this section limits any consumer rights or mandatory protections that cannot be waived under applicable law.

    27. Changes to These Terms

    We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date above.

    Updated Terms become effective when posted or otherwise made available, unless a later effective date is stated.

    Your continued use of SoloSnap after updated Terms become effective means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using SoloSnap.

    28. Severability

    If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, the remaining parts will remain in effect.

    If possible, the invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable provision will be interpreted or modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid, lawful, and enforceable.

    29. No Waiver

    Our failure to enforce any part of these Terms does not waive our right to enforce that part or any other part later.

    Any waiver must be in writing and signed by us to be effective.

    30. Assignment

    You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent.

    We may assign or transfer these Terms, in whole or in part, in connection with a transfer of the SoloSnap project, change of ownership, merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, operation of law, or similar transaction.

    31. Entire Agreement

    These Terms, together with any applicable Privacy Policy and any written agreements between you and us, form the entire agreement between you and us regarding SoloSnap and supersede all prior or contemporaneous understandings regarding SoloSnap.

    32. Support Access and Conduct

    SoloSnap support — the contact form, the Vulnerability Disclosure Program, support tickets, SecureDrop, and Support Live Chat — is provided as a courtesy and may be modified or discontinued at any time.

    When contacting support, you must provide accurate information about the issue and must not submit unlawful, harassing, hateful, deceptive, sexually explicit, or unauthorized content; spam, advertising, or malware; or another person’s private information. You may not impersonate SoloSnap staff or attempt to disrupt, scrape, interfere with, or overload our support channels.

    We may use an internal support record to recognize a person across these support channels. The information in that record, how it is matched, and how long it may be retained are described in Section 18 of the Privacy Policy.

    SoloSnap administrators may temporarily suspend or permanently restrict support access to enforce these Terms or to keep support usable for everyone. We will email you if that happens, and we will include a reason when an administrator has supplied one. Restrictions apply to your support record, not to a particular device or network.

    If a restriction was applied in error, or your circumstances have changed, an administrator may lift it and, where appropriate, release your email address so you can contact support again.

    33. Contact
